mission and outreach

We take our purpose of blessing our community seriously, understanding community

as being local, national, and international. We support our mission partners with our own boots-on-the-ground involvement in, and financial support of, their work.

We also support the world-wide mission of the Presbyterian Church USA.

opportunities to serve our community

We highlight just some of the ways in which we engage with our community in the passages below.  To see a list of all the wonderful organizations we work with missionally, please see our full Mission Partner page or access our 2025 Mission Book.

Our monthly Mission and Earth Care Newsletter is also a great way to stay current on missional and earth care opportunities with Central Longmont.  To see the most recent issue or to review past issues of our newsletter, please enjoy the Mission and Earth Care News archive.

working to end hunger

Central Longmont sponsors an annual funds drive for The Round Pantry at Westview to help alleviate hunger in our community.   The Round Pantry is a food bank for anyone needing food assistance that operates on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month.  Many of our members also love to volunteer each Pantry week.  It is easy to find Central Longmont friends helping at The Round Pantry.  To volunteer, please click here to access their volunteer sign-up.

Each fall, our congregation fields a team and raises funds for the Boulder County CROP Hunger Walk. The walk takes place every October as a part of a nationwide effort to raise funds to help alleviate hunger and poverty here in Boulder County, the United States and around the world.

supporting childhood education

Columbine Elementary School is Central Longmont’s neighborhood school. We partner with

Columbine to provide support through reading mentors with the Read and Swing Circle and

volunteers for special events such as an annual Career Day.  Our Boots for Columbine program

acquires snow boots for students identified by school staff as being in particular need of them.   Get involved with these wonderful outreach opportunities!

working to restore god's creation

According to the Earth Care Pledge we make as an Earth Care congregation, "God calls us to be careful, humble stewards of this earth, and to protect and restore it for its own sake, and for the future use and enjoyment of the human family."   We strive to live this pledge through education programs, our commitment to lowering our carbon footprint, and outreach to help restore God's damaged world. To learn more, please see the Earth Care Central page.

loving our neighbor

In 2019, Central Longmont established

Recovery Café Longmont as a stand-alone 501c3 non-profit to be a community of refuge and healing for people in recovery.  RCL supports individuals as they rebuild their lives and break the cycle of addiction or overcome a recent stress or trauma.  RCL strives to stand in the gap between crisis and stability by fostering community-building and life-empowerment.  Many Central Longmont members volunteer in the Café and/or donate home-cooked meals for the Café’s daily communal lunches.

Frontera de Cristo is a ministry on the USA/Mexico border located in the sister cities of Agua Prieta, Sonora and Douglas, Arizona.  They work with churches and secular organizations on both sides of the border to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God.  Café Justo (Just Coffee), a partner ministry of Frontera de Cristo, is a grower-owned coffee cooperative in southern Chiapas, Mexico, formed to address poverty and migration from Mexico to the US.  Central Longmont places orders for coffee from Café Justo every month.   Click here to learn more and to order your own coffee.
